Police has just issued an update on the death of Kefran’Nancy’ St. Clair, confirming an earlier report by St. Lucia News Online that she died of ligature strangulation which means strangulation without suspension using some form of cord-like object.
However, the lawmen are not investigating St. Clair’s death as a homicide, though the deceased’s relatives believe she was murdered.
The police press release stated: “On Monday, June 30, 2014, a post mortem examination was conducted on the body of 27-year-old Kefran Nancy St. Clair of Morne Du Don, Castries. According to the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death, the results indicate ligature strangulation. Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are treating her death as a suicide. St. Clair was discovered with a rope around her neck hanging from her kitchen ceiling about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014.”
Nancy’s sister, Marie St. Clair told St Lucia News Online (SNO) today (July 3) that she is still trying to come to grips with the news of her sister’s death.
Marie has also expressed disbelief that her sister committed suicide.
She told SNO,” I am very heartbroken. I don’t have much to say right now, but I just don’t understand why should someone do that to her.”
Marie complained that she is having difficulty eating and sleeping.
“It’s also very difficult to go to work because everyone keeps staring at me and asking me questions,” she added.
Nancy’s three children, ages 10, three and two are now in their grandmother’s care.
Nancy was found hanging in her rented apartment in Morne Du Don, Castries on Saturday (June 28). She was a housekeeper at Bay Gardens Resort and was due to work Saturday evening.
She was reportedly discovered by her boyfriend at about 6:30 p.m. hanging by a rope from the roof of the kitchen.
