A truck has plunged into a river bed near the health centre in Monchy, Gros Islet around 3:45 p.m. today.
The driver, 59-year-old Julian Sidoine, who was the only person on board the vehicle, escaped serious injuries. Sidoine is originally from Monchy, but lives in Monier, Gros Islet.
An eyewitness has blamed the accident on the deteriorating condition of the road.
“Thank God there is no tragedy. For many years now the people in the area have lamented on the caving in of the road and no one does nothing,” the eyewitness said, adding that telecommunications and government are responsible for the situation with the road.
SNO will provide more information soon.
