A cruise ship tourist was pronounced dead at a hospital after he collapsed in Castries this afternoon (Dec. 28).
Reports are that between 1:30-2 p.m., the male visitor, believed to be Italian, fell near the bathroom area in the La Place Carenage duty-free shopping mall. He is believed to have suffered a heart attack.
The deceased, believed to be in his 60s or 70s, was a passenger on Queen Mary 2, which is docked in Castries Harbour.
An eyewitness said: “By the time I arrived he was on the ground. He wasn’t breathing. The medical people were already there. I was told he was walking and he just collapsed…”
