A minibus carrying tourists crashed near the Bouton gap in Soufriere Saturday morning between 11:00 and 12 noon after a failure in the vehicle’s brake system, an eyewitness has told St. Lucia News Online (SNO).
One passenger was reportedly transported to Tapion Hospital in Castries but the injuries were not life-threatening, an eyewitness said. Several others suffered minor injuries.
The eyewitness, who claimed to have spoken to the bus driver, told SNO, that the rear brake line burst. The bus careened then off the road and ended up in an embankment.
“The driver was able to control the vehicle and get it to that spot (embankment),” the source told SNO.
The Fire Service and ambulance responded to the scene.
