Authorities are investigating the suspected drowning of a 17-year-old male at the Anse Cochon Beach, Anse La Raye this afternoon (March 20), around 3:45 p.m.
The victim has been identified as Joshua S. Hinds of The Morne, Castries.
An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that Hinds was swimming when he suddenly disappeared into the water.
Reports are that Hinds had just finished eating when he decided to take a dip close to Ti Kaye Resort.
After it was recognised that he was missing, a search party was organised. Hinds was found minutes later and placed in a canoe and taken back to the shore.
Despite several attempts to revive him, they did not get a pulse.
An eyewitness told SNO that his body was later covered with a white cloth.
The police and an ambulance responded to the scene.
