Officers attached to the Vieux Fort Police Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 41-year-old Vincent Descartes of Laborie Street, Vieux Fort.
It is alleged that approximately 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2014, Descartes and a few friends were fishing at Black Bay Beach, when he went into the sea for a swim and submerged.
As a result, a search ensued. Descartes was subsequently recovered and transported to St. Jude’s hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
