Five people were left homeless and a business destroyed when fire razed two structures in Bagatelle, Marchand in Castries Friday night (Jan. 27), fire officials have told St. Lucia News Online (SNO).
No one was injured.
Emergency officials received the report around 7 p.m., and two fire trucks and an ambulance were dispatched.
According to fire officials, one plywood and concrete house, owned by Junior Ricardo Jn Baptiste, was destroyed.
The other structure housed a plywood-apartment house and an upholstery shop downstairs, called the Running Man Upholstery Shop, fire officials say.
Williamson Jn Baptiste and Patricia Jn Baptiste lived in the structure along with their two children. They are reportedly owners of the house and business.
Junior and Williamson are brothers, fire officials told SNO.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.
