The decomposed body of a man with his head covered in a sack and his feet bound was discovered in bushes on a hill in Pigeon Point – an area between the Landings Resort and a feeder road to Gros Islet town.

A woman  at the scene, who preferred not to be identified, told St. Lucia News Online that she saw the body of a black slim-built male about 9:30 this morning after she was told about its discovery.

She said a blood-stained “white sack or crocus bag like those used to carry sand” covered his head.

“His feet was tied and he had on a black pants, a tie-dye (multi-coloured) shirt which was open,” she said.

The eyewitness further stated that the body had tattoos on “his hands and belly”. He appeared to be in his 30′s.

A police source said the body appeared to have been dead for about two to three days as it was “smelling real bad”. Another police source confirmed the body had tattoos on its arms and chest, including the name of a place in the United States which has a world-famous prison.

The body was removed from the scene by Rambally’s Funeral Parlour. About a dozen persons including media personnel stood behind the police yellow tape at one end of the crime scene.

A few feet away beyond the bushes, a group of people enjoyed the beach – some playing with kites – seemingly oblivious to the situation nearby.
