The death of 70-year-old Morne Jacques resident Matthew Joseph has been ruled a suicide following the completion of a post mortem to determine the cause of death.
Police said Joseph was found hanging by the neck from a tree by relatives on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
Police were summoned to the death scene in a forested area of Morne Jacques, Choiseul about 2 p.m. on that day. He had been reported missing by relatives about 11 a.m.
A post mortem examination done by Pathologist Dr. Wayne Felicien on Tuesday, May 9 revealed that Joseph died as a result of “asphyxia secondary to ligature strangulation”.
No foul play is suspected, police said.
